Original Beer Can Chicken
- Cook Time: 1.25 Hour
- Serves: 4
Directions
1. Temper the whole chicken by letting it come up to room temp for 1 hour in a cool spot on the counter.
2. In a small bowl, mix together the garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, and salt.
3. Heat the oven to 375ºF. Lightly pat the chicken dry, then rub the chicken all over with the spice mix.
4. Pour 1/3 of the beer and 1/4 cup Bachan’s Japanese Barbecue Sauce into a 9x9 baking dish or cast iron skillet.
5. Add 1/4 cup Bachan’s into the can of beer, then place the chicken on the beer can, with the legs facing down.
6. Bake, basting the chicken every 10 minutes with pan drippings, for 50 minutes to an hour, or the chicken is done and golden and the internal temp reaches 165°F. If needed, lightly cover the chicken with foil to avoid burning.
7. When the chicken is cooked through, remove the pan from the oven and cover lightly with a sheet of aluminum foil and let rest for 10 minutes.
8. Remove the chicken from the can of beer and carve. Finish with the pan drippings and extra Bachan’s Japanese Barbecue Sauce to drizzle. Enjoy!
