Yuzu French Toast

Directions

1. In a shallow baking dish, whisk together 2 eggs and the milk. Season with salt and freshly ground pepper and mix in the garlic powder and basil, if using.

2. Add the bread to the baking dish, letting the egg mix soak in, flipping once.

3. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium-low heat.

4. Transfer the eggy bread to the pan and cook, without moving, for 4-5 minutes, or until brown and slightly crisp. Flip and continue to cook until golden and brown, about 4-5 minutes. Remove the French toast from the pan and keep warm in a low oven.

5. Heat up a frying pan over medium-high heat and add the oil. When very hot and shimmery, gently add the remaining two eggs, which should start to bubble up and cook immediately. Tilt the pan and carefully use a spoon to baste the whites with hot oil. Once the whites are puffy and crispy around the edges, about 45 seconds to 1 minute, remove the pan from the heat.

6. Add the warm french toast to a plate and top with a crispy fried egg. Drizzle generously with Bachan’s Yuzu Barbecue Sauce and finish with fresh basil. Enjoy immediately.
